This period property is situated in West London. The Client wanted to open up the ground floor living spaces towards the garden, whilst embracing an existing courtyard in the middle of the floor plan. The fibre cement cladding to the rear extension, wraps up the wall onto the roof, forming a sheltered wing, under which a fully glazed side extension.
The proposal is inspired by eastern design principles, favoring the enclosure of external spaces within the plan of the building. The courtyard floods the ground floor with light, whilst bridging the relationship between old and new building elements.
